Sugar Decoder Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 9, 2026
Sugar Decoder is a LifelyUp educational app. Version 1 is designed to work offline. Ingredient-list recognition and matching are performed on the user's device using a reference database bundled with the app.
Photos and camera access
Sugar Decoder requests camera access only when you choose to photograph an ingredient list. You may also choose an existing image using your device's photo picker. Sugar Decoder does not upload ingredient photos to LifelyUp or to a Sugar Decoder server. The app does not intentionally retain a copy of the selected ingredient photo in its scan history.
Text recognition and database matching
Text recognition is performed on-device. Detected text is compared on-device with the Blood Sugar Code reference database bundled inside the app. Sugar Decoder does not require a LifelyUp account or LifelyUp server connection to perform this matching.
Scan history
If you choose to save a scan, a limited record is stored locally on your device, including the scan date/time, an optional label you enter, matched-name count, family count, and matched names. Scan history is not sent to LifelyUp. You can delete all locally saved scan history from the app.
Subscriptions and purchases
Sugar Decoder Pro subscriptions are purchased and billed entirely through the App Store or Google Play. LifelyUp does not receive or store your payment details, and subscription status is read directly from your App Store or Google Play account, not from a LifelyUp server.
Data we collect
Sugar Decoder V1 does not require account registration and does not intentionally collect ingredient photos, scan history, or detected ingredient text on LifelyUp servers. This policy describes the LifelyUp app itself; your operating system and app-store provider may process technical information under their own terms.
Data sharing and sale
LifelyUp does not sell Sugar Decoder scan data or ingredient photos. Sugar Decoder V1 does not intentionally transmit those materials to LifelyUp for advertising or profiling.
Deleting local data
Open Scan History and choose Clear history to remove locally saved scan-history records. Removing the app from your device will also remove app-local data according to your device operating system's behavior.
Changes
If Sugar Decoder later adds accounts, cloud synchronization, analytics, advertising, server processing, or other features that change its data practices, this policy and applicable app-store privacy disclosures will be updated before those features are released.
